What makes Tucson Arizona unique is that it is a high desert community in the Sonoran Desert, the only place in the world where the majestic Saguaro cactus grows. Tucson is surround by 5 different mountain ranges including the Catalina, Tortolita, Tucson, Santa Rita and Rincon Mountains. Each mountain range has a distinctive look and feel. When you are driving in Tucson, every time you turn a corner you are greeted with a new mountain view. The mountain ranges offer a wide variety of state and national parks for site seeing, hiking & biking.
Tucson is Wildcat Country. Having the University of Arizona centrally located in Tucson makes Tucson a college town. Tucson does not have any professional sports teams so the university fills the void. The U of A basketball team under Sean Miller is a perennial power house. Going to a U of A basketball game is an event not to be missed. The energy in the newly renovated McKale Center is electric when the game gets close. The U of A football team under Rich Rodriguez is nationally ranked and is in contention for the PAC 12 championship.
The University of Arizona also offers unique entertainment opportunities in the form of lecture series, plays and the UA Presents series of concerts and entertainment.
Every college town has its entertainment district full of restaurants, bars and funky shops. For us, that is 4th Avenue and University Blvd. Stroll down the street poking through the peculiar shops and stay for lunch.
Downtown Tucson is now a thriving destination for entertainment and is fast becoming known for its restaurant scene. The new Pizzeria Blanco, known for the best pizza in the world, along with many new brew pubs and upscale dining like chef Janos Wilders Downtown Kitchen & Cocktails make the trip downtown worthwhile. For dining with a southwest flair, try Café Poca Cosa or the original El Charro. We also love the atmosphere at Casa Vicente.
The new streetcar route connects the University of Arizona, 4th Avenue, University Blvd and Downtown entertainment districts making it easy to get around for an enjoyable day or evening.
The Catalina Foothills is an upscale community nestled in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson AZ. Head to La Paloma CC or Ventana Canyon CC for a round of golf in a spectacular setting. Shop your heart away at La Encantada, a Spanish style outdoor upscale shopping plaza in the heart of Catalina Foothills. Some of the anchor stores include Apple, Coach, AJ’s, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Lush, Michael Kors, Tiffany & Co., among many others. For a special night out, dine at Flemmings or Vivace, Tucson’s best Italian restaurant.
